EFFORTS IN EDUCATION
Education stands at the center of The Perlmutter Foundation's primary mission to elevate equality and justice and to enhance communities. As firm believers that every person should expand their horizons, understand the world around us, and have access to high-quality education, Ike and Laurie Perlmutter have supported a wide range of initiatives and institutions. The Foundation upholds the ideal that education is at the basis of equal opportunity and a better, more inclusive society.
THE TECHNION'S PERLMUTTER
METABOLOMICS CENTER
As part of their continuing quest to fight cancer, Ike and Laurie Perlmutter have donated more than $6 million to the Technion Metabolomics Research Center.
Cancer metabolism is one of the most exciting and promising emerging areas of research, with an explosion in technological advances that allows researchers to study the metabolic alterations that contribute to cancer development. Therefore, the promise of cancer metabolomics in the development and design of new cancer therapies is undeniable.
The Center aims to take the research excellence into translational and clinical studies so that the work will have a tangible and significant impact on cancer patients. The Center will also provide the capacity to support the pre-clinical and clinical search for prognostic, diagnostic, and pharmacodynamic biomarkers and will establish interactions between the TICC and clinicians in Haifa and around the country.
